Interteck A/S supplies an exceptional variety of high
quality humidity indication products, from the originators and worlds leading producers of
humidity indicator cards.
Today more than ever, humidity
indicator cards are being used in an increasing number
of applications including: Military, Atomic Energy
Commission, Aerospace, Sensitive Electronics,
and Industrial manufacturing.
Humidity Indicator cards are an accurate, reversible method
of monitoring desiccant activity levels in a controlled atmosphere. They provide
several inexpensive alternatives to costly and sensitive equipment without the need for
re-calibration and meet Military specification I-8835.
A chemical-type color change relative humidity
indicator, that was inexpensive and not easily damaged, proved to be the solution to the
problem of indicating dangerous humidity conditions in the storage of critical military
inventories.
The need for protective packaging was brought to a head
during World War II when moisture damage caused military supplies to deteriorate at the
high relative humidities in the Pacific and the tropics. The use of desiccant and humidity
indicators solved this problem.
After the war, the color change chemical indicator was
developed by Humidial Corporation, which used blotting paper as the vehicle. Using cobalt
chloride solutions, with additives, Humidial developed a wide range of humidity
indications. The range is as low as 8 percent and as high as 95 percent.
MS20003-2
The humidity color change indicators and plugs allow visual
inspection of the condition of a sealed package by readily detecting any change in the
water vapor ratio (relative humidity by means of an easy to read color change element. The
indicator will change from blue to pink - a blue color means safe and pink color means
unsafe.
The sensitive indicating element of the plugs has long term
calibration and accuracy within 5% of the relative humidity, and a large, clear viewing
window for ease in reading either straight or from the side. Installation is quite simple
and only takes a few seconds to install the plug into the storage container.
The current Military Standard, MS 20003, dated 5 JUN 63, is
approved by all Governmental Agencies, the Department of Defense, and NATO for use in
Method II packaging. The MS20003-2 meets this standard and is fully reversible.
| MS2003-3 This card is used where space may be a problem. It is identical in
design to the MS2003-2, which is 2" x 3", except it is approximately half its
size, making the MS20003-3 ideal for small barrier applications. |

AEC82004NE
This color change humidity indicator card was designed for use
with activated desiccant in packaging by the Atomic Energy Commission. This card complies
with Mil-I-8835. A warning arrow points to 30% RH, pink indicates a desiccant failure. Our
Manufacturer's code (HF) and date of manufacture are imprinted on each card. SMD-HUMITECTOR
This humidity indicator card was developed specifically for
use in the electronics industry. It is ideal for use with other components of the
"Dry Pack" concept of packaging of surface mounted devices. Dry Pack is a
three-component process:
| 1. |
A barrier bag which seals
moisture out. |
|
|
| 2. |
A desiccant bag inside the
barrier bag to adsorb moisture |
|
|
| 3. |
A humidity indicator card which
indicates 10, 20, 30, and 40 percent relative humidity. You know that the SMD is dry and
ready for soldering without decohesion of the plastic for the underside of the leadframe
die pad. |
